Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Baby all swaddled & just falls asleep then......

I hear her poop.  Do you disrupt the sleep & change her?  Lately she's been sleeping 4 or 5 hours before I have to wake her.  I don't like the thought of her sitting in a poopy diaper that long but she barely napped today & this is the earliest I've ever got her to sleep.  Crap!

  • let her sleep.. she will be okay. Or, at least wait until she is in a deep sleep.

  • I'd wait till it was a deep sleep and she would probably go right back to sleep if you use warm wipes and are really quick =)
  • For my LO he gets diaper rash really easily, very sensitive skin. So if it sounds like a big poop I'll change him. Usually if it's that big he's woken himself up anyway with the sound. lol

  • you may be dealing with a bloody diaper rash if you don't take care of it now.   it's your call.   i would change her in a quiet, dimly lit room.

  • Thats super frustrating but I wouldnt let him sit in poop.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
  • I'd change my LO quickly - in the almost dark.  She always wakes for a diaper change, but dim light keeps her sleepy.

  • Don't ya love it!  It's such a personal call.  Changing is a tactic I use to wake her up.  However, I completely understand the fact that she has poop against her skin.  I know it's a pain but I personally would turn all the lights off and change her.  Then pray she doesn't wake-up.  If she does a little extra warm milk or warm wash cloth and that should put her back to sleep.
  • Happens all the time....I change him right away in very little light.

  • Always change a poopy diaper. Diaper rash as a result of not changing it will be worse than waking up one time.

  • change him, quickly and as comfortably as possible. I have a question, my hospital doesnt want my baby sleeping anymore than 3 hours at a time without eating. are you breast or bottle feeding?
  • NOPE!! babies at that age do not care. i would def not, but remember to at every feed before hand.

this is until your baby is back to its birth weight.  once LO is, you don't have to wake to feed at night.
