I'm 37+ weeks pregnant and have a breech baby. I'm going in for a "version" on friday but wondered if any of you had one, and if so what it was like, why you did or didn't have it and any info you could share would be super helpful!
TIA!

I had one, it didnt work i ended up having a csection. I am glad i tried it though other wise i would have always wondered. It was pretty painful, not to bad not to do it but enough to make you bruised and uncomfortable.

I did not have one. My Dr said that it likely wouldn't work, and would be very uncomfortable for me. Also, he said there is a risk of it causing the baby to go into distress. He did say that he'd seen babies turn around the day of a scheduled c-sec, so it's possible that your LO might get there on his/her own. My DS just had less than no room to do it by himself. We opted to just plan a c-sec and I haven't regretted it. The recovery from that was nowhere near as hard as I expected. I personally wouldn't do a version if it was me, but that's just my opinion. If you're fully prepared for the discomfort/pain and someone highly qualified is doing it then go for it. Just make sure they really know what they're doing. There's a lot of delicate stuff at work in there!
I had one too. Mine was done at 37wks 1 day. It also didn't work but we wanted to do what we could to avoid c-section so I'm also glad we tried.
I went to the labor and delivery unit of the hospital and they had me undress and put on the lovely hospital gown. I got nervous right before they started and had to pee and the male dr walked in as I was backing out of the bathroom (the room was so full of equipment that this was necessary) and he actually held my gown closed for me. They put an IV in my hand and monitored the fetal heart rate for about an hour before they started anything so they would have a baseline of normal for DD.
When they began the version I had my regular OB on one side of me, another OB on the other, a few nurses in the room: one on the ultrasound machine telling the OBs where DD's body parts were placed and the other seemingly extraneous but I'm sure they were doing something.
I also had my husband up by my head, holding my hand and trying to distract me from the pain by recalling good/funny memories of our honeymoon and my mom and sister down by my feet. My mom held one of my feet for moral support although I didn't know it was her holding my foot.
The OBs coordinated their efforts on my stomach. One of them pressed their hand deep into my lower abdomen in an attempt to lift DD out of my pelvis and the other pressed on my upper abdomen to the side trying to force DD sideways.
I would describe the pain during the version as someone trying to shove all my organs up under my ribcage. At one point I was sure they had DD's head rammed against my ribs but they assured me her head was fine. They gave me pain meds before the version but I didn't feel their effects until after they were done and I just felt very sleepy.
Afterward my stomach was very sore. I felt bruised in the lower abdomen and just under my ribs the most because the version was spent trying unsuccessfully to lift DD out of my pelvis. I would suggest planning on just resting for the rest of the day and have an icepack handy. For about a week it felt like I'd done a million sit-ups
Another thing is I packed for my version like I was going to have my baby. The chances are extremely low but my OB said that it is possible that a version can cause labor, break your water, or make the baby's heart rate drop to dangerous levels and in these cases an emergency c-section would be done. None of these happened to me but I was glad to have the house ready and the hospital bag ready just in case it did.
My last word is that I had a c-section at 39wks and if that's what happens to you it's really not so bad. The absolute worst part of the whole c-section experience for me was the spinal anesthetic they put in. It hurt quite a bit, I couldn't move and my husband wasn't there. Everything else wasn't bad or painful - just weird. And then I had DD and none of it mattered to me at all.

I was transverse at 37 weeks and breech at 40, they wanted to try the version, I almost went ahead with it but the odd of the baby actually turning and staying that way werent great enough for me, I decided to go ahead with a c-sec, I wanted to have a vaginal birth but they wouldnt induse me even if they had turned my dd. Although I had a c-sec, my experience was just as amazing, everything went very smooth and I healed very well, the only downside is my baby was stubborn so they had to make a t shaped incision in my uterus to get her out, so I will never be able to have a vaginal birth on any future children, my daughter had a huge head apparantly though and the obgyn that did my c-sec didnt think I would have even been able to have her vaginally, i think it all boils down to what you uwant and what your comfortable with. I know the version is and can be very painful with 50-50 odds. That just wasnt good enough for me personally.

Re: Anyone have a "Version"
thanks for the info. were you fine right after the procedure? how long was it and how long were you "uncomfortable" for?
Thanks.
