How did your LOs 6 week growth spurt go?

I'm wondering because I think DS is starting his.  His sleep patterns are all crazy (not that he was mr. schedule before, but he was fairly reliable about feeding/sleeping at certain intervals, and yes, I know he very well could change his habits and I'm not asking for him to be on a schedule yet - it'll come in time).  Also, he's getting really fussy at the breast, and I haven't changed my eating habits, and as soon as I pull him away he calms down.  I'm tempted to pump and feed because he isn't fussy with his nightly bottle. However, he isn't eating any more than usual - if anything, he's skipping an evening feeding or two in favor of extra sleep.

What do you ladies think? Is this the start of the dreaded 6 week growth spurt?  Do you think he'll go through a feeding frenzy in the next few days? I tend to have an oversupply, so I'm not sure if that'll change anything.

Wow I don't have any help to add for you, as I was just coming online to look up this information as well. I have twin girls who are 6 weeks as of yesterday and for the last 2 days one has been sleeping much more then usual and has been taking less at her feedings, while her sister has been awake almost a hour more during the day then before and is wanting to eat almost ever 2 and a half hours and perviously we were on a perfect 4 hour schedule.

Glad I'm not alone on this one.

  • My only advice: Don't count the days. Just take it one day at a time.
  • DS just went through this last week. It lasted pretty much the entire week.

He slept ok at night (not great, but the same as before), but during the day, he ate almost constantly, but not whole bottles...he snacked. Was eating 1.5-2 oz pretty much all day long, and REFUSED to nap during the day...ugh...this made for a really CRANKY baby (and Mommy) by the time DH got home from work...

Yesterday was a great day and today seems to be ok too...so I'm hoping at 7weeks2days old, it's over (for now)!

  • Well at least that means there's a end in sight,

My one girl is sleeping really good, about 4 and a 1/2 hours in between feeds but she will take her bottle and then a second helping on almost every feed. My other little one is not napping at all, awake almost ever 1/2 hour and is like yours snacking she'll only take like 20ml to 40mls at a time before starting to fuss again.
