My doctor told me that I could continue taking Prozac while pregnant. I stopped around 8 weeks with this pregnancy. The only pregnancy that I took the Prozac the entire time was my second and he was born "addicted" to Prozac. He went through the withdrawl symptoms of the Prozac. He was cranky, uncomfortable, and miserable. He never slept. He is 2.5 now and he is still much more moody than our other kids. I really believe the Prozac caused him to feel miserable as a newborn and then it kind of became a habit to be moody/whiney and not sleep.

I do want to add that you should defiantly talk to your OB about it. Dealing with depression and pregnancy is so hard. When I delivered my kids one of the first things that I asked for was to go back on my meds b/c I feel so much better. Good luck.

I really hit the wall around new years which was also halfway through my pregnancy. When I conceived I was on cymbalta. I went off antidepressants and took nothing for awhile. Went on prozac/wellbutrin combo in January. Wellbutrin was too much at the time so I just dropped down to prozac. Picked the wellbutrin back up after I delivered DS. I'm glad I did. Good luck.

There are meds approved for depression during pregnancy. Talk to your OB about it. There are also psychiatrists who specialize in reproductive psychiatry, so you could also ask for a referral for that kind of doctor.
I had severe pregnancy depression with DS. It was so bad that I seriously considered some pretty radical options to free myself from it. I ended up seeing a therapist for talk therapy and it did help to take the edge off. I have never been on anti-depressants but I was *this close* to taking them with DS. Luckily the depression lifted (I believe it was entirely hormone related) in the later 2nd and 3rd trimesters. But I will never ever forget that time in my life. I second Juniper...find someone who specialized in this. That is what I did and it saved me.
