So I've been in complete denial that I am going back to work Nov 1st...well,actually not going back to work...I'm really starting my career. I'm starting private practice and although there is some excitement as I am done with 4 yrs of college, 4 yrs of med school. & 3 yrs of residency...I am terrified of the real world. Can't I just stay home with the kids? Don't get me wrong, I love what I do, but there is just so much baggage in the medical world...things that you learn along the way. After so many years of training and the fact my family needs my income...off to work I will go. And being a mommy of 2...makes me itch to stay at home even more. But I will compensate by not overworking...I refuse to be one of those doc's that works 24/7...I don't mind not making as much, my family comes 1st. Ok, vent over! ![]()
But now I am 2 weeks away and have been procrastinating. I've been EBF and have left the pump in the closet...but now it must come out. There goes developing a freezer stash! As long as I get enough for the 1st few days I'll be fine...that's hoping I overproduce the way I did with Evan.
Procrastination part 2 - work clothes...do you ladies have any recommendations on where to get some work clothes? I don't want to buy too much as I still have 15 lb to go. My regular clothes doesn't fit yet so I guess I'll have to wear my maternity pants for now but I would like to get a few reasonably priced items that are non-maternity and fit! Thanks so much and any tips on going back to work would be great...it's the 2nd time I do this but I feel like a novice! :-)

Re: Going back to work and work clothes recs....
I'm sure going to work will be bitter-sweet... starting a career but leaving babies behind. Hope it goes very smoothly!
As for clothes, I personally love Gap and BR. Since you are sitll in the transition phase, I'd try Old Navy... I have a few pants from there that don't look ONish at all - great quality. Plus, pair them w/ cardigans. I believe they are very in style now, plus it is getting a bit chilly out.
Outlet shopping is always a great place to start stocking up! GL

Suzy - easy to find "non-maternity" clothes that fits you b/c you don't look pregnant! You look awesome. : ) BTW thanks again for the cookies... they were a hit once again.
And NY&Co is another good store that always has great prices.

Aw Laura, I'm sure it'll be ok. It'll be hard at first but after a while, you'll adjust. ::hugs:: At least you get to do something you love
And I swear by Kohl's for work clothes. I bought a whole mess of cute tops and dresses on sale there two weeks ago. There's one in Town & Country Mall (not that it's called that anymore, but I don't know the new name) along with a Nordstrom Rack that's pretty awesome, too.
LOL... I am still waiting to "look" pregnant! I find it hilarious that 3 people at work came up to me this week and were trying to ask if I was pregnant, but didn't want to offend me. "Umm.... I wanted to ask you but..." I should reply by saying I'm not pregnant just to get a funny reaction.
Glad you enjoyed the cookies!
Oh, and Laura --- big HUGS! You're going to do great! Going back to work is tough, but you have a lot of excited things ahead with the new practice that will keep you looking forward to what's next.
Will you be able to pump at work, or are you planning on weaning? You have a little bit of time to start a freezer stash before you go back. I'm sure a few of the girls on here will have some great recommendations for getting one started
Good luck!!
Nope! It's something Palms... I have no clue when it changed but I think it was before that GTG. And the new toll system is such a PITA. I don't have a Sunpass (I know, I know) because I hardly ever take the highway - but whenever I do decide to take the highway, I have to maneuver everywhere to find the cash lanes. And some highways don't take cash anymore, period.
Nikki, I plan to continue pumping at work. I pumped for 13 mths during residency so I figure I can do it again since I will have more control over my schedule...the whole process would take me about 10 minutes/session since I had an oversupply and i'm hoping it will be the same this time around! And i'm taking the pump out tomorrow...you are right, 2 weeks is enough time to get some sort of freezer stash going.
Thank you so much ladies for all of the encouragement and clothes recommendations! Will definitely be shopping later this week.
