registries/showers .. for 2nd time mom's or anyone really

So I'm really curious if anyone (2nd time moms or people that have already had their showers) received a lot of items off of their registries. My shower is coming up in a a couple of weeks, and not one item has been purchased off the registry .. so yeah I know most people go out and shop right before, at least my family and friends, but honestly, I am suprised because 16 people have RSVPd to the shower. But I'm really curious how much, if anything did you get off of your registry as opposed to people bringing things they bought elsewhere?

DH and I are expecting to have to purchase a majority of items, as we already have, and plan to finish up over Black Friday. But I can't help but peak at my registry every once and awhile and see if anything has been bought from it. Guilty pleasure.

my registry has 96 items, (my mom helped and she got trigger happy, c'est la vie) and only 6 have been bought and my shower is saturday

but im also flying cross country tomorrow and everyone knows ill be flying, sooo that could be affecting registry shopping

some people just flat out hate shopping from registries. They think they're going to come up with the magical "better" gift. It baffles me, it really does.

we did get a lot off our registries but a lot of it never got checked off the registries, or we had people get us things that were very similar to what was on the registry.

I always felt like nothing was disappearing from our registry, but it really did seem to happen at the last minute. Also, we had a ton of random gifts sent to us after our showers had passed.

I have had TONS of people tell me they bought a gift for my shower already- but only big items have been purchased on my registry (and these are people that I know didn't just lay down $300 for a moniter). I am assuming they are buying baby things not on my registry- or they have found items off my registry at another store (I know one friend did that because she didn't have a BRU near her).

Until I got pregnant, I never understood how much people probably prefer things they ASKED for- so I have been guilty of just buying something I thought was cute instead of getting a registry item. Evidently, I sucked at buying baby shower gifts before (although, my friends always used the outfits I bought all the time- I do have good taste at least!).

I have a feeling what happened is that people bought stuff off of your registry but they didn't take in the barcode thingy and so it's not showing up as being bought. The same thing happened with our wedding registry and we ended up getting a couple of repeats.
