Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When can LO face out in baby carrier?

Is it just when they have complete neck control?  If so at what age was your LO able to face out? I have the baby bjorn active carrier.

Thanks!

  • DH put Audrey in the carrier face out yesterday, and although she doesn't have complete head control (still very good though), she did fine in it (she's 9 1/2 wks)

  • Ellis has been in the carrier face out for 2 weeks or so? I keep a hand on him at all times. He has amazing neck control. He holds his head up on his own so well. I put him in both ways, but he does fine facing forward.

  • I put DS facing out a couple days ago and he did great. He has awesome head control and our carrier goes pretty high up around him unlike some that are only mid chest high. We have the Bjorn Synergy. I will continue to have him facing out from now on. :)

this.  If we go on a long walk, then she still faces in.  If she gets fussy in the afternoon/early evening and I want to keep her up until bedtime, I'll take her for a short walk around the block facing out.  She absolutely loves it.  She's had amazing neck control for a while and can already roll over on her own.

  • Carriers that face a baby out are not good for their spines. Facing a baby out towards the world also does not allow the baby to turn away and hide their face from stimulation when they feel they have seen enough.

  • Lily is in it right now as I type

    Hi,

Did you do anything special to help her with her head control and rolling over?  Just looking for some pointers.  Thanks!
