Wow health insurance

Our health insurance just went up $280 a month!  Like it was not expensive to begin with.  We now pay over $1000 for a family of 5 for insurance.  And on top of that we have $25 copays at the doctor, $50 copays for specialty doctors, plus a $1500 deductible up to 2 family members.

So needless to say I am searching for something else.  That is just crazy!

  • Whoa. Our family of 4 only pays about $450 a month.

  • Whew! That is a lot. Ugh.

I just added DD today to my plan, and luckily it's less than $100 additional a month to have her on the plan. It adds up though.

  • Yikes!

I haven't added Hart yet, but DH is an extra $140/mo on my plan (my coverage is included at work). I cringe to think what the addition will be

  • Wow. That's ridiculous- we pay 360 for our family of 3. Our insurance doesn't go up if we have additional children and I'm very thankful. I can't imagine paying that much for health insurance!
  • Wow, I couldn't even imagine paying that much! For health and dental for the 3 of us we pay $100/month.
  • Mine is close to $2000/month now for the 3 of us...because as a teacher I'm required to be a part of a group insurance plan, and DH is self-employed.  I guess he and DD could be on a separate plan, but we haven't looked into that.

We also have $30 copays, but no deductible.

  • I know my insurance would have doubled to put DD on it. But United has a "large family plan"  (5+) and that's the one that always has increases @ my work EVERY YEAR!

  • Depending on what state you live in they may have insurance for just your children that is cheaper.   PA has CHIP program so no child goes uninsured.  Maybe if you check on a state gov site there will be some sort of assistance for you.
