anyone with insulin resistant PCOS?

I got my lab results back on Friday, but I don't meet with my doctor until the 18th and I have a question.  Did anyone have normal glucose results in the 2 hour test but have a high accucheck glucose and still get the insulin resistant diagnosis?

Re: anyone with insulin resistant PCOS?

  • I am insulin resistance. I'm not sure which portion came back high but due to having PCOS I was then sent for the 2 hr GTT. I am to take metformin 1500 mg a day.

  • I'm IR with PCOS.  My insulin levels @ the 2 hour fasting glucose test were high but my actual glucose levels were normal.  But my PCOS is weird; I don't have any of the classic sx besides being obese.  I don't have bad skin, my cycles are normal & I don't have excess body hair.  But my bloodwork shows my FSH & LH levels are flipped, which is a hallmark of PCOS.  I've taken Metformin for about a year & have lost about 40lbs so far.  GL!

  • Thanks ladies.  My LH was significantly higher than my FSH (LH was 28.4 and FSH was only 4.6, so I see the PCOS diagnosis in my future, I'm just really hoping to avoid the insulin resistant diagnosis.  I haven't gotten my insulin levels back yet, so I guess those will tell the whole story.
