Those of you who started whole milk before 1 year

Two questions:

Why did you choose to start early?

Did you do a mixture of milk/formula/BM before a year and switch to strictly milk at one year?

Just curious what others have done. I don't plan on switching until around his birthday, but see that others have started a little early. Thanks!

We are just starting to do this.  The only reason we're starting early is because DS is really starting to lose interest in formula.  He never finishes a bottle anymore, which is a huge change from how he used to be.  We just started with milk this weekend, and we gave him a little bit w/o any formula in a sippy.  It was a pretty lukewarm reception, but we are going to keep at it.  If he continues to not drink it, I'll try mixing it with formula.

With Ryan and Emma, I ran out of formula when they were between 11 and 12 months. I just decided to switch to whole milk for convenience sake. I switched cold turkey, and they took to it without any complaints (which may be why we now go through 6-7 gallons of milk/week).

Mallory was taking mostly BM but I was supplementing with a bottle or two of formula.  Right around 11 months and one week old, I realized I was going to need another can of formula so we started phasing whole milk in instead.  For about a week she would have one BM bottle, one formula bottle, and one whole milk bottle at daycare.  I also stopped pumping at this time so as soon as the formula was gone she started whole milk all the time.

We started early because we were going on vaca and didnt want to do deal with pumping/formula on the trip. Drs rec.

We mixed half and half for a couple days and as soon as she tolerated we did 100% cows milk and havent looked back. That was a little over 11 months

We started around 11 months. I had one big can left and didn't want to buy another can. So we started with 1/4 milk and 3/4 formula. The progessively over a few weeks increased milk and decreased formula until about a week or two before his 1st bday when we went to all milk.
