xp baby bargains breast pump

hey everybody!  I tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything.  does anybody mind telling me what the baby bargains book says about breast pumps.  I can't find my copy and I know it had a chart with something about if you're a SAHM or a part time working mom .. and said which pumps were recommended for each.  if anyone doesn't mind taking a moment to copy that info on here for me I would GREATLY appreciate it!!  thank you!

ps. I posted this on the baby gear board, too.  I'm tired as heck so sorry if it doesn't make sense, I've spent the last 2 hours trying to decide between the lansinoh double electric and the medela swing and I can't for the life of me remember what baby bargains recommends.

oh and I'm going to bed, sorry to post and run but thanks in advance if anybody answers :)

  • I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but the Medela Swing got an "A" rating in Baby Bargains.  But the Lansinoh is also the "Ameda" which gets an 'A' too.  Hmmm.

  • My copy was open on the coffee table to the breast pump section so I can help!  I think you mean the "Our Picks" section at the back of the chapter?  If so, it recommends the Swing in the "Mini Electric" category.  As you know, it only pumps one side but they say it is very good quality.  No other pump is recommended in this category.  The Lansinoh is the Ameda sold in retail stores and is a tie with the Medela PIS in the "Professional Grade" category.  There was another little chart earlier too that shows if you are working part-time then the "Mini Electric" category would be the good option for you.  On the other hand, it shows daily use as needed a "Professional Grade".  Hope that helps!

  • I've know a lot of people rave about the Medela PISA and I've know one person love the Lansinoh and one the Ameda. Our LC said just to make sure to not buy one from a bottle company (i.e. Playtex, Avent, etc)

My LC said the same, no Evenflo, Playtex, etc. She recommended the Medela PISA and said they use it's equivalent in the hospitals. Lucky for me that's what we got already.

I would LOVE the PISA but it is way out of my price range :(  I feel bad putting anything I would never buy myself on my registry.. I added the swing to my registry.. I have a feeling nobody will get it, but depending on if I get gift cards or money I may go back and add the PISA to the registry to get the discount and buy it for myself :)
