TTC After a Loss

What advice would you give

to a 5 wk pregnant woman that was having cramping in her abdomen AND lower back?

ETA: it's not back pain, but rather back cramps.

There's a post over on June 2011 (I know, I know. I'm a glutton for lurking punishment) and a woman is experiencing that. The advice that she has been given is largely "ya, me too. No big whoop."

Re: What advice would you give

  • I would say call the Dr.  Especially if she thinks something is wrong.  I knew something was wrong and wouldn't take "It's no big deal, everything will be fine" for an answer.  But I wouldn't try to freak her out, cuz it could be nothing.

  • Call your doctor! Then you'll atleast know what is going on, nothing... or something.

  • I feel sorry for my Dr.'s receptionist next time I get pg...she is going to be answering my phone calls A LOT.

ETA: I spotted about a week before my m/c and thought it was ok bc it was brown. Stupid. Who knows if bed rest or something could've made a difference? I won't make that mistake again!

  • Yeah, that's tough because it could be harmless and I hear that many cramp during their first trimester but it also could be a sign of trouble to come.  I started to cramp before I began to bleed so all I can see is a huge red flag.  I hope it ends well for her.

  • Thing is, she really should consult a Dr.  Even if it's harmless for a lot of women, it's a warning sign for others.

  • That's what I'm saying. The cramping in the front is one thing, but to cramp in the back and front is concerning to me.

What's more concerning are all the puppies and rainbows that get thrown around on some of the pg boards.

I hope she follows her intuition that it might be weird and calls the doctor for medical advice, rather than listen to 4w1d experts on pregnancy.
