So I had my regular 2 week Doctor appt. this week, and most everything looked good. LO's heart rate was great, blood pressure was good etc. Got my flu shot. BUT- my doctor came in and was NOT happy with lack of weight gain for the past 3 weeks (I've gained a pound, but 23 total- which I thought was pretty normal?). Then she measured me and Im measuring 29 weeks at 31. SO- we are headed down to Maternal Fetal medicine for another ultrasound. She didn't seem TOO concerned, but concerned enough for an ultrasound. So now I'm a little nervous. I keep reading about Intrauterine Growth Restriction- and need to stop going to google.
Anyone had a similar experience? I am excited to see our little girl again, but a little nervous for sure.
Re: Another Trip to Maternal Fetal Medicine
Your weight gain sounds fine to me. Maybe your doctor is just erring on the side of caution. Fundal measurements can very really, really off (as can size estimates from ultrasound) so your doctor might just want to double check and make sure baby looks okay. My doctor wants me to have an ultrasound next week to check growth, too, but for the opposite reason - apparently I was measuring large at my last couple appointments.
I will be crossing my fingers for you! I bet your baby girl is doing just fine.

Ditto justducky.
I measured 33 at 31 weeks yesterday and my MW wasn't at all concerned - she said it was prob down to how the baby was laying (diagonally). And that they can easily be off by 1-2cm.
Your weight gain sounds spot on to me, and you don't always gain consistently...

We have IUGR. I have gained about 20lbs, but the baby is still small. We are now high risk, but we have been consistently measuring behind. First she was in the 13th percentile, then the 12th and now the 5th. Usually they won't worry if it is a one time thing especially if blood flow to the baby looks good. They think our baby is just naturally small, but that there may be a problem with the placenta that is keeping her from getting more nutrients.
Try not to worry and just have them tell you if the blood flow looks good, because that is important if there is a growth concern.
