Trying To Guess Conception Date

I will admit I was not expecting a little R&R suprise when my fiance came home for 2 weeks and so when we found out it was a couple of days before it really sank in. So, when I went to my PCP to get verification and they told me I concieved on the 27th of August I was pretty damn sure they were wrong considering my fiance was on a plane heading for the states at that time and we didn't get "nasty" till late at night on the 28th so whats with the doctors telling me I'm the Virgin Mary or my fiance has time traveling sperm. Did anyone else get a weird conception date that they knew wasn't possible? I mean yeah mine could be a day off, but till my ultrasound I won't know for sure if we really did get it right the very first try. This is so confuzzling and I still haven't quite grasped that we are having a baby next May.

Anyone else having fun with the conception guessing game?

Re: Trying To Guess Conception Date

  • Yea I am in the same boat. My boyfriend is a firefighter so he's gone 1/3 of the week on 24 shifts. At first, the conception date was his birthday (haha!) which made... sense... but now I'm earlier than expected, and it was a day he was at work, so hmmm. I've looked online for answers, but haven't found too many. So if you figure it out, let me know :)

  • How excited! We are expecting an R&R baby too!! I also have the same problem. My LMP was August 20th, so I should be 7 weeks tomorrow, only problem with that is, it says I conceived on Sept 3rd. Well....hubby didn't get home until Sept 7th!! We found out on Sept 22nd with a very faint positive (negative the day before) the day before he went back to Afghanistan.

I don't have my first OB appointment until the 21st, so I'm going to talk to my OB about it. I'm sure he'll have to do a dating ultrasound to figure things out.

  • I'm guessing that the conception date you are given is actually the date when you would start ovulating according to a 28-day cycle and the first day of your LMP.  I am positive of the day we conceived, and it's 4 days before our medical conception date.  I don't think it really matters though in the grand scheme of things.  They probably just give you this date so that they have an idea, especially if you aren't sure of when it was.

This. It is assuming you ovulated on Day 14 or 15.That is just what they do.

My conceptions date is a week before my actual ovulation day - not possible. But I did not O until CD21, so my measurements will ALWAYS be a week later than expected, since I Oed later than "average".
