Parenting after a Loss

I thought this was weird

Kaygan didn't have reflux, so I'm no expert on this. But, a friend of mine and his wife had a baby 3 days ago. Yesterday, he posted that their worst fears had come true, that the baby has reflux so mom has to go dairy free...

1. if that's their worst fears, they can count themselves lucky, but I didn't say that of course :)

2. Isn't reflux one thing and lactose intolerant another thing?

3. Isn't that super fast for something like that to be diagnosed?

Like I said, I know nothing about all this, but it struck me as odd.

  • at 3 days, milk might not even be in yet.. and if it is, it's only been a day or two, baby might be fussy but it's pretty tough to diagnose something that quickly...

  • I believe that the symptoms of AR and lactose intolerance can be very similar, so docs often have BF moms eliminate dairy first to see if that helps before treating for AR.  That said, I completely agree... seems way to early to know something like that.
  • That strikes me as odd, too.  My milk didn't even come in until day 4!  I wonder what is making him think that the LO has AR...?
