Rash cream even with no rash?

Ok, so DS doesn't appear to have diaper rash but my mom insists I put diaper rash cream on his bum every time to provide a barrier of moisture since according to her, CDs don't have that like disposables do.  She's clueless.  I don't put anything on his bum and it seems fine.  Do you ladies always put some kind of cream or balm (CD safe of course) at every diaper change even if there's no rash?

i put alba unpatroluem jelly on him pretty frequently as a moisture barrier. i do it more with prefolds, fitteds, etc though, but now i am just in the habit.

my son has pretty sensitive skin so i would rather do it than get a rash.

I use Magic Stick as a preventative.  It's not a cream though, more like a balm.

No b/c CDs are breathable natural fibers there is no need to put anything on the butt. You have to do that with sposies b/c they are not breathable and will cause diaper rash if you don't. No offense but your mother is clueless
