I am lacking in the baby clothes department

I see alot of posts about all the clothes that people are buying. I have a sleep sack that someone gave me and a swimsuit! And I think that's it. I was waiting on my showers to see what I needed. Am I the only one who, as of right now, will have a naked baby?

Most of mine other people have bought or I got second hand, so you aren't alone in not buying them yourself at least

My little man will be in diapers and socks... unless I get stuff at my shower..haha.

Although when I just got to my mom's last night she couldn't wait to show me 5 outfits that she bought him, but they're all in 3-6 & 6-12mos.

Oh! And I just remembered I got him a bear suit to bring him home from the hospital. That's it though. Now after my shower.. I'm sure I'll go buck-wild buying clothes.

I have been admittedly really bad about shopping. I have a ton of stuff and bags of hand me downs from my brother and sister's babies. Old Navy is having an awesome sale if you want to shop w/o feeling too guilty?

I only have a lot b/c my sister gave me all the clothes she had from my niece and she got most of them from her shower.  You'll be shocked on how many outfits you'll get.  I still have yet to buy anything myself b/c I know it wouldn't be worth it.

Your baby won't be naked! They have a swimsuit to wear... in January! You can put the sleep sack on top if you want to be fancy and go out! JK. I don't have a ton of clothes yet either. So not on my list of worries. I am more concerned about diapers, wipes, bottles, getting the room ready, etc for some reason. I really think I will get more outfits at showers. Although... I have NOTHING in newborn size. Just 0-3 months... or wait... is that the same thing? I get so confused. Some brands don't have newborn just preemie but if you hold them up they about the same as newborn sized stuff. So confusing.

I've got a handful of clothing items that people have got for us- mostly I just have a basket of clothes that I wore when I was little that my Mom just gave to us...not much, though.  With no shower in sight I'm thinking we're going to have to start getting our butts in gear in this department.  LOL  =]

This is why I haven't bought anything yet. And my sister still hasn't gone through her stuff from her daughter yet.

I think its smart to wait for your shower if you are expecting to get a lot of clothes at it.  Personally,  I am not having a big shower (I'm surprised to be getting one at all) so I know that I will be buying most of LO's wardrobe and don't feel the need to wait.

He won't necessarily be naked, but I'll be doing laundry every other day if I don't get any more.  But right now I feel like i need to go shopping for myself, things aren't fitting and mommy is going to be naked when the weather cools down just a little more.

All I have are hand-me-downs that I haven't even looked through yet. I'm waiting until after the shower (although I MIGHT just go to this amazing boutique on Friday and pick up a thing or 2...it's just stuff I know people won't be buying me so I'll splurge myself!)

I think newborn clothes are a waste of money. They are usually for 5-8 lbs, so they wear them for about a minute, if at all. I weighed more than that when I was born! I I would rather go with the 0-3 months size  and if it's a little big, oh well.

This is what we have so far:

1 bear suit my mom bought

1 rocker/recliner

1 borrowed bassinet

We've got time and I don't want to buy a ton of things and then receive duplicate gifts.  You're fine! (Or I'm screwed.. one or the other LOL!)

The only outfits I have bought are off the clearance rack and in larger sizes for next year.  For newborn stuff I have all footed sleepers that I score on the cheap or at buy one get one half off...

A lot of moms on here have said that their kids wore newborn for months even though they were way over the weight limits on the tags though... ergh! I don't know. I think our baby will be loooonnnngggg seeing as I am 5'8'' and DH is 6'3'' but who freakin knows!

I guess you never know. My sister and most of my IRL friends say they are pointless, so my newborn sizes will be few.

I've been buying things, mostly on sale items from gap and old navy. i have bought some NB items, my nephew was in them for 2 or 3 months, you really just never know!

all she has so far is a pair of boots and a sleep sack... husband wont let me buy clothes til after my shower

We haven't bought anything but 1 little outfit and a few onsies.

My MIL has given us the talk about not buying our baby any clothes ans she has a closet full all ready at ther house that she has bought and told us other family members have as well, Although I do feel bad that we haven't really bought any real neccessities for baby yet, Our family has been very good to us!

Nope I'm waiting for the shower too so that I don't get too much of something...I only have one onesie, one shirt, one pair of shorts and a pair of shoes. : )

My baby will be naked too. I have a few outfits and onesies. Nothing else. Like you, I'm waiting until after the shower to buy what I still need at that point.

We bought a lot of clothes already-though everything has been on sale, clearance, or consignment, and I'm really proud of how well we've done (nothing cost over $10, most were between $1-7) . But, I also wasn't told I was having a shower  until about a couple weeks ago.

I'm also waiting to see what I get at my baby shower and what my in-laws buy (they're in Italy so we they show me what they get in our skype chats). I've only bought 3 onesies.

With or without hand-me-downs, I was definitely planning on waiting until after the showers to buy pretty much everything, especially clothes.  I didn't even register for any.  I know that people like to throw in a cute outfit with their gifts. I have already received several gifts from people who just felt like it and a ton of hand-me-down clothes.  I think that if I didn't have enough clothes after the showers, that I would head to a goodwill, salvation army, or large baby yard sale.

I probably have about 25 onesies/sleepers, and diapers and wipes and photo frames and stuff. My mom was over this weekend and i showed her the baby room and she got kinda mad i purchased that much already and that i didnt wait for my shower. Made me feel kinda bad but i'm not one to wait til last minute.

Nope! Mine will be naked Except for an "I love daddy onesie" and two Phillies outfits we bought at a yard sale. Oh and a snowsuit type thingy we got at a Just Between Friends sale. I figured it would be smarter to see if I get anything at the shower before buying.

Same here, I keep reading "don't buy clothes other people will buy them" and they won't get to wear most of what is bought but I really am going to need some more clothing. I have maybe ten sleepers/nightgowns, 3 onesies, and a couple pairs of socks. And the sleepers range in size from newborn, 0-3, and even 3-6. So...I'm going to have to get some more things that is just not enough and I've already had my baby shower. I'll probably look around on craigs list.
