Do you think the show glorifies Teen Pregnancy by bringing fame to these girls.
Or.
Does it discourage Teen Pregnancy by showing the hardships of every day life?

But as a mature teen I wouldn't have ever considered it or put myself in that situation to begin with.
I think as far as making teen pregnancy a more frightening thing for teens, it did a better job when it was "16 and Pregnant". But, it does show that they have to make different choices and sacrifices now because of their LO. I can?t imagine too many teens wanting babies that young after watching the show.
I'm honestly not to sure what side of the fence I'm on. I watch the show each week. It's like a train wreck...I can't look away. I feel bad for the girls. Then I go grocery shopping and I see them on the mag covers and it makes me think it's all a publicity stunt.
I get that they are all struggling in different ways and I get that they have all had to make huge sacrifices in their lives. I do hope that that is the message that younger kids are receiving.
BUT, when I see them on the Mags or E!, I think it kinda sends the wrong message. Those are the places that we see celebrities. People that kids look up to and want to be like. You would hope that teens would recognize the difference, but SOME kids these days are pretty frickin stupid!

I think that most teenagers would see the show and think that it would be different (read: better) for them. I think high school kids, in general, lack the insight to look past what feels good at this very moment. Obviously, there are exceptions who will take away the message that teen pregnancy is not a good thing, but I don't think that most of the girls who are in the mind-frame of wanting to get pregnant would be dissuaded by the shows.
As another poster replied, I think it did a better job of discouraging things when it was 16 and Pregnant. Teen Mom tends to over dramatize and I think, egg some things on. I think these girls are getting too much publicity for the choices they made and can usually only stand to watch Maci's segments..I like Caitlyn and Tyler as well, but their family drama is too much sometimes.
While I'm thinking about it...Farrah is complaining about money but doin the show and Hair Modeling shows..can she really be THAT bad off? I mean she has to get something for the show, right?

Im going to say both.
You took some pregnant teenagers and put them on TV thus giving them what many teenagers and hell some adults dream off.
ps - do we know if these teens are being paid for every episode they do? Im hoping the money is put into a trust for the baby?
