In a wedding this weekend

I'm in one of my best friend's from college's wedding this weekend.  I have been looking forward to her wedding since she got engaged - NYE '09!  I'm just a little nervous for the day, I have not been able to get through the day without being sick since about 7 weeks.   My biggest concern is that the physical act of standing is the worst for me - if I stand for 5 min or more I'm sick...  I have sea bands, I'm taking b6, I've tried Zofran (it didn't work for me)... any tips?  advice?

I have my first official appointment with my ob on Thursday so I'm going to ask her as well, would just love to hear any tips from experience.

  • try ginger thin cookies. It was the only thing that worked for me. My mom got them for me from safeway (vons). I think the brand was annas. good luck

  • No advice here-just wanted to say I'll be in the same situation at the end of the month. (Hoping I still fit in the dress then!) I'll be curious to hear what suggestions others have.

  • They also sell those cookies at Ikea.

You can also try Reeds Ginger Chews (candy... I find it at health food stores). Anything ginger, basically.

:/ good luck. I hope you have enough energy to make it through the ceremony!!!

  • I've been in two weddings the past two weekends, so I'm hoping I can help! The first ceremony wasn't anymore than 15 minutes, and outside, so the breeze definitely helped. However, the second was inside and about 25 minutes, and I started to feel a little woozy by the end. That said, I drank LOTS of ice cold water right before each (granted I had to pee like nobody's business) and sucked on life savers peppermint mints. They were literally life savers! I don't think I would have made it as long as I did without them.

  • Good luck to you.  I'm in a wedding on 10/23 (I'll be 9 weeks, 4 days) and I'm anticipating it's going to be a loooooong day.

Let us know how it goes, and any tips or tricks that helped you through- I'm going to need them!

I am definitely going to buy peppermint lifesavers!  That is a great idea.  My biggest worry is she is having a Catholic Church Ceremony so it's going to be loooong... I will let everyone know how it goes!

  • Get some ginger chews to suck on. It really helps me.
  • PP, I was just going to say that! (Can't quote, stupid phone!) But yes, the catholic ceremony may be longer, but you'll get to sit a majority of the time! Lucky girl!
