January 2011 Moms

This gives me a twitch.

So it's 4pm and for whatever reason my hubby had the channel on Much Music and left it there. Anyways, there is a show (4pm people), called "Pants Off, Dance Off". Literally, it is people stripping down while they dance to music. Of COURSE the girls are skanky as hell. It just floors me that this is on at 4pm.

I am pretty easy going and realize that our kids will be exposed to sexual situations, but honestly, our kids get exposed to enough BS without having random pointless, gratuitous CRAP like this on. Nevermind that most 12 year olds parents aren't home to say "ummm...no thanks. Not appropriate". I think they need to go back to regulating time-slots for shows like this.

Sincerely,

Ms. Prude

Re: This gives me a twitch.

  • Thats stupid. I hate crap like that on TV. I also hate that show "Warren the Ape". I HATE IT! I have actually banned that show from the bedroom TV. I do not want to see garbage like that when we could be watching or doing something else.

  • Loading the player...
  • That is pretty distasteful. MuchMusic is a junk channel anyway.

  • When DH turns on a lot of the crappy reality shows (I know a lot of people like them, but he seriously loves the crappiest) and just drama infested junk, I tell him that I'm getting dumber by the minute by watching them.
  • I feel this way when my eight year old son and I walk by Victoria's Secret's 15ft tall displays in the mall. How do you not look at a topless girl from behind who's butt is as big as your head? And I like that store... I just feel uncomfortable.
  • We have customized family settings turned on for the TV and the internet, and every time the kids try to go to a restricted site we get an email notification. I love being married to a tech geek.
  • Wow...that's all I have to say...wow....

  • Ya, whatever he was watching before was absolutely nothing offensive. When he (rarely) does watch crap I literally tell him that I can feel myself getting dumber and can feel my brain cells screaming in protest as they're dying. lol So to be fair, it was after he left, that show came on.

I was offended by mostly the TIME that it's on. If my 16yr old wants to watch that crap, I would hope they have learned from us that they can do better for themselves...but at 4pm a LOT of "tweens" are home before their parents and that takes away our right to moderate/parent, and at that age kids are really looking at these shows and the people in them and emulating what they interpret "young adults" to be.

I wrote Much and complained about just that. I am not opposed to all of Much's programming, but it was definitely better "quality" before it tried copying the MTV layout. Back when it was really about showcasing Music.

  • So glad I'm a SAHM!  I think my kids will watch PBS until their are adults.  :o)
