Cloth Diapering

Apparently she didn't quite get the concept of a pocket diaper....

I was reading through reviews of the BG 4.0 and came across this one.  It made me chuckle.  Oddly enough she still gave it 4 out of 5 stars.  Hopefully whoever she is stumbles across our board so we can properly school her.  Smile

"I'm a first time expectant mother and am obviously new to CD. After reading reviews I decided to purchase one Flip and one BumGenius to check out each product and figure out if I have a preference. I must say, I'm a little confused by the BG system. The idea of having a layer of cloth between the baby and the insert just says to me that if the baby wets, the barrier is wet with urine too and I wouldn't dare put that dirty diaper back on my baby, meaning I will have to wash the cover with every pee! Am I missing something or does this confuse anyone else? I'd prefer to just be able to have a better pocket to keep the insert on top so as not to get any other part of the diaper dirty."

  • I saw that review the other day too. I was sort of like 'Why would you think it goes back on the baby?'

  • lol I don't mean to laugh but it's like she didn't even read the product description...
  • I can see why she would be confused.  When I first started researching cloth diapers and watching videos on youtube I thought that if your pocket diaper was just wet you could lay it out to dry and use it again, if it was poopy you had to wash the whole thing.  After a little more research I figured out that wasn't the case and then I really didn't understand using a pocket diaper since the whole thing needs to be washed.  I'm still a little confused with all the different diaper types so I'll have to try a few and see what I like/what works for us.

  • I I understand cloth diapering can be confusing especially when no one is there to guide you and help you sort through all the various brands etc...BUT with that said, i wonder sometimes about people.  If you child pees or poops in a diaper - i mean directly  on teh diaper- WHY would you think you could or should put it back on the child?  Sometimes I just want to question people's common sense...
