Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did/will you put away the pack n play?

We've never really used ours, but it still sits out in our living room, basically serving as a toy box/coat rack. But I keep thinking I'm going to need it for something...

When did you (or when do you plan to) put yours away?

  • We never kepts ours out and used it mainly for traveling. Now that DS is in a regular bed, he has discovered how to climb out of it so we are done putting him in it when we travel and the new baby will start using it.

  • We did on the weekend- we needed the space for his birthday party. We were going to bring it back when we realized we never used it anyway.
  • I was looking at mine wondering the same thing yesterday.  We never used it all that much, but in moments where I absolutely positively cannot wait one more second to go to the bathroom, it is pretty helpful to be able to plop him in there with a few toys and know that he is safe.

So I guess I will keep mine out until I no longer have a need to do that and I can trust him to sit still for a second.

  • We've really only ever used ours for travel, which is sad because we bought the expensive model with the bassinet and changing station and all that.  We're actually giving it to my aunt next month when she has her new baby.

  • I still use ours in the spare bedroom for those nights when we have to separate the girls.  And this week alone, it has been used twice.  I will not be putting ours away anytime soon.

  • We had it out in his room for about a month or two after I bought it (when he was 9-10 months old).  It was filled with stuffed animals.  =)

We only used it for traveling - twice.  It's put up now and we plan to use it with the next LO.

  • At about 6 weeks.  Once DS was officially sleeping in his room (we kind of lived in the LR for the first 3 weeks), we took it down because our house is really small.

But for awhile, I set it up in our room, though, so that I could put him in it while I got ready in the morning.  However, he's now sleeping late enough that I can get up and get ready before he wakes.

  • we only used ours when Max was small and slept in our room and then for travel purposes only.  he's too long for it now, so it's been in our storage room since earlier this year.
  • We never put ours out (well DD slept in her pack n play until 2 months old). So we put it away at 2 months? We only use it for traveling.

  • Ours is still set up in our bedroom and I use it once or twice a week to contain DS if I need to take a shower and can't do so while he is napping.  I pull it in front of the door to the master bathroom, give him his sippy and turn on a Baby Einstein DVD in our bedroom and he is happy as a clam for 30 mins.  This is the only time DS is allowed to watch TV so it is quite a novelty for him.  I'll keep using it like this until he learns to climb out.  We also travel back home to visit family every other month or so and we use it then.  Occasionally I babysit for one of my mommy-friends and we'll use it for nap-time.

  • N uses a pnp solely for naps when I bring her to my nanny job, so now she goes insane if I try to put her in it for anything else.  We now have a Superyard for safe play if I need to run out of the room for a minute or something.

I think we put the PNP away (the one at home) a couple months ago.

  • The one in our house mainly holds toys. I'll put her in there if I need to clean up and she's not napping. I usually do all my cleaning during her nap time. My mom still uses hers for DD's naps. I'll probably keep using them until she reaches the height limit.
  • We brought it to my parent's house when Luke was about 8 weeks old.  Because he was sleeping in his crib at that point, and I knew my parents would want something for him to sleep in when they have him.  No need for them to buy something!
  • We haven't kept it out since he outgrew the bassinet feature and started taking all naps in his crib. Since then, we only get it out to travel or if we're babysitting another LO. Until I can trust him in their toddler bed, we'll keep taking it to visit the ILs because they have steep stairs and no baby gate at the top (riddle me this, they even have a toddler living with them!). He has yet to attempt to climb out of it or his crib, so *knock on wood*, that will probably never be the deciding factor.
  • We still have our out - it is great for naps and when I need to run downstairs and get laundry started so that he doesnt get into anything or hurt the baby by accident.  It is so much easier to walk in the door and put him down if he is asleep than it is to walk upstarts and deal with the squeaky floors.
