and I thought I was laid back during labor

I have a class tonight that is done via conference call. One of my classmates called in at the begining (7pm) to let us all know he wouldn't be able to stick around because his wife was in labor...he was actually in the labor room. He stuck around and chatted for a few minutes.

 

We just got an email from him: their son was born at 7:08. He probably got off the phone about 4 minutes before he was born. I would have killed DH! She had to be in the midst of pushing.

Umm yeah! Dh barely had time to pee while I was in labor much less make a phone call!

My H was totally chill during labor and probably would have been able to, but I made him press on my back through every contraction. I needed his hands!

DH kept wanting to update my mom (who was worried sick the entire time) and our best friends so he had his cell phone out and he sent a few texts and called my mom once or twice. It was driving me crazy!! I was so sick of him saying how much hair DS had... I just wanted him to help me put my chin to my chest so I could push!

I would be a bit at aggravated if DH was on the phone during that stage of labor.

However, I was very chill and calm while pushing.  I remember we were watching Shaun White snowboarding at the Olympics.  I 100% have the epi to thank!

We had lots of complications during my labor, so DH was both terrified and had his hands full.  The nurse and anest..never mind, not gonna try to spell that, you know who I'm talking bout...sent everyone from the room during my epidural.  They wanted to wait and make sure it was working and their weren't any underlying complications (long story) and I asked on of the extra nurses to let Troy and my Mom know I was doing ok.  She asked how she would know who to talk to and I told her it would be the guy pacing the hall looking terrified.  She came back in laughing that she spotted him right away.  Poor guy!
