Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Those TTGP with #2

DD is 13 months old, I nursed here until 1 year and now we only nurse at night before bed. I got my first post pregnancy period right after her 1st birthday. We have been TTGP since August. I did not get my period in September, after being a week late I tested and it was negative. After being two weeks late I tested again and it was negative.

Could it just be that I am irregular because I haven't had a period in so long? What was your experience when AF returned after giving birth the first go around? Would you keep testing or just keep trying and wait for symptoms to show up before testing again?

TIA!

Re: Those TTGP with #2

  • my AF was completely fine until after DD.... Now I have been going 50-60 days b/w periods and/or skipping months completely. I ended up at the OB about 3 times over the last few months and getting ultrasounds and bloodwork which all came back normal. OB/GYN is saying it's most likely PCOS even though the bloodwork came back normal... Now I am taking clomid to try to get pregnant. Fun times... Needless to say yes, it went all haywire after DD. LOL

I would maybe call and ask if they can do a blood test for pregnancy. It's odd that you'd be this far along w/o a BFP ya know? Or maybe it's a thyroid issue that showed up after pregnancy?

  • I got my first pp AF when DD was 2 months old but I EBF until 13 months and my period was always very normal after having DD. The only time it got out of whack is when I took the minipill for 3 months and I didn't like the way it made me feel so I stopped but once I stopped my cycles got right back on track again. I think its different for everyone and it can take a while for your body and cycles to adjust once AF starts showing up again. I would think a test would show a positive result after two weeks but who knows when you are Oing since your cycles are off now, so if you still don't get your period for a while I would test occasionally since you are TTC but its not abnormal to have your cycles be off after BFing.
