They have a special formula for pregnant women that is preservative (mercury) free. At the pharmacies around here you just have to ask for that one but you don't need doctor approval. It's a personal choice but my OB's office had a sign posted saying that he recommends the shot for all pregnant women. I got one because of the combination of being pregnant (higher risk if you get the flu) and working in a school with children (higher exposure). Good luck!

My OB told me that it's very important for me to get the flu shot. I have always been pretty weary on vaccinations (especially during pregnancy i thought NO WAY!)
but after speaking with my doctor, i felt that it was so vital that I get it before baby arrives.
They will usually give them to you right at your OB office.
I would be very careful with any vaccine while you're pregnant. Please read the following. They haven't been proved to harm, but they are not Proven safe either... it's still a risk. Me personally - I'll take my chances with not feeling well than with a miscarriage. Just know all you can before you decide.
There are natural ways to prevent getting sick - Vit C, Vit D, Ginger, washing hands, staying hydrated, getting sleep, keeping warm(with season change), etc.

Hope all goes well whether you or don't get one.
This is a ridiculous website! Miscarriages are common, so anything can be blamed on them. Besides, I also love how this websites makes no mention of what a high grade fever (common with the flu) does to a fetus.
Whether or not you get the flu shot, please don't use this website in your decision making.

I totally agree. If you do decide to get the flu shot, you must get the thimerosal free shot. The nasal vaccine is NOT recommended for PG women. Do your research and take a look at the ingredient list on the FDAs page... you would be suprised at what is actually in these vaccines. I for one will not be getting it.
