So I'm still fairly new at work and we have a huge dept team building thing this week. And we were told to dress casual (jeans and sneakers) etc. Now I'm starting to worry that it might be a "swing from a tree" kind of team building crap.
I need a solid excuse to get out of this. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow; WAY too early to even hint to my boss that I'm pregnant.
Bad back? Hurt ankle? Aliens abducted me and I'm still sore?
I obviously can't get out of going, but I need an excuse to get out of anything physical.
Re: Ok, I need good excuses to get out of a "team building" thing
Oh my gosh! I now have such a distorted image of 'team building' activities. DH just had a team building (he works with 23 other guys and when I say team...I mean team), in which they went to a Spa Sauna. All together there was 32 of em spending the day at this Sauna bearing it all. Not only were they in the buck in everything the entire day, but they were doing team building exercises and meetings at this sauna. I was DYING when he was telling me about it.
Anyway, this is the new image I have of what team building is. The entire group walking around naked. Let's hope that's not what your boss has in store for you
As for getting out of it?? Show up with a "limp." That way you can play up the injury idea...but you'll have to remember to limp for the next two days...

I had to do a week long work event at 7 weeks that was connected with the food industry, so there was wine, off limits cheeses and other food, late night parties (at the height of 1st tri fatigue)....
About a week before the event, I developed a "knee problem". This took care of needed to find time to sit down and not stay out too late. I also happened to be "on anti inflamatories" and couldnt drink (I would "sip" when I needed to pretend, but it gave me an automatic out for always having a drink in my hand). "Anti inflamatories" also amazingly didn't sit so well in my tummy, so I suddenly became very picky with some foods that just "didn't agree with me".
