I think we are in trouble

My parents were over for dinner tonight and Leo had been playing with my dad's hat.  After dinner Leo was out of his chair (while we were still eating b/c he was throwing food...shocking) and was trying to get the hat off the counter but he couldn't reach it.  We weren't really paying much attention to him because we were still eating.   Next thing we know he goes into the living room, gets his stool (that he has only ever used as a chair) carries it into the dinning room and uses it to climb up to the counter.  I have never seen him problem solve like that before.  Now nothing is truely safe in our house!

  • Eli does that too, but surprisingly he only does it when we are there with him.  I think because the first time or two he tried to do something like that on his own I put the fear of God into him, because I screamed and ran over and grabbed him.

  • What a little smartie!  Allie does that too.  She was pushing her chair down the hall the other day and I asked her what she was doing.  She replied, "I'm climbing, Mommy!"  At least she's honest.

Wait until they can climb up on top of the counters with their bare hands.  That's when the real "fun" begins.

  • Actually try not to panic yet...DS2 did this by pushing the Poang chair against our bookshelf to reach something he wanted and I told him no and pushed the chair back and he hasn't done it again since (watch me jinx myself).  But I will agree with you about the problem solving though, that is quite genius :)
