Hello! I was just curious on when you introduced your preemie to cereal and solid foods? When did they show signs of readiness? At their adjusted or actual age?
We waited until their adjusted age. But I wasn't in a rush: solids are just for 'practice' in that first year, anyway. My girls were about 9 months actual, 6.5 adjusted when I first introduced them, and then because it was obvious the BM wasn't filling them up completely.
We actually started early, around 5 months actual. Our pediatrician recommended it and DD had started reaching toward my food any time I'd eat. She did great with it and the extra calories helped her put on weight a little faster, which had been a problem initially.
We are going to start at 6 months actual, which will be 4 months adjusted. We asked at my LO's 4 month appt, and the pediatrician wanted to wait until 6 months. I am starting to get ready--we have Gerber rice cereal, a pack of Earth's Best Fruit Starter Kit and another pack of Earth's Best Vegetable Starter Kit.

We started at 6 months actual. The boys seemed ready at that point according to the signs on www.wholesomebabyfood.com which is where we got alot of our information as we transitioned to solids. They did really well and we had no trouble moving through the textures though we did so slowly. We started with fruits and vegetables and allergy checked them for 4 days in a row before adding a new one.
We started at 8 months actual. My DS was ready long before, but he has serious allergies to breast milk, dairy and soy. Along with some tummy troubles. His G.I. doctor reccomended waiting until he felt like DS's system could handle the new foods.
