If you've used an OPK opinion needed

I have been testing with an ovulation predictor kit since Thursday day 11 in my cycle (today being day 14) and I keep getting negatives.  I am using the first morning urine since I cant hold for  4 hours during the day.  I had EWCM yesterday so I assumed today would be a positive.  If you have used them what do you think of them? I am going to judge my own body by the cm I guess.

I've actually heard that it's best to test in the middle of the day (around 2pm)...not first thing in the morning, as it peaks in the afternoon. You can also miss it VERY easily, so I bought the cheap internet ones and would test morning, afternoon, and evening...then when I got a positive on a cheapie, I would use the good digital smiley face one to confirm.

I never had any luck with them. It must be easy to miss b/c I was using them twice a day and always got negatives but still somehow managed to conceive DS.

Testing first thing in the morning isn't going to give you the best results.  I didn't usually ovulate until Day 21ish, but would sometimes have some CM that resembled EWCM a week or more before.

If you can, try to at least  hold it for 2 hours in the middle of the day and test.  Also, make sure you test the same time each day (I believe that's the rule for OPKs)

Definitely try testing later in the day- I never held my pee for 4 hours- there's no way!! I still got positives. I just tried to hold it for 1-2 hours if I could.

I used them and had great results. I would test middle of the day and usually didn't get a positive reading until day 14/15. If we TTC again I will use them again.

if you have EWCM i would have sex today just in case. ?I never had much luck with OPKs - i found it too hard to not pee for 4 hours, and testing in the morning doesn't give great results. ?Ultimately, I bought a CBEFM when I was trying to get pregnant with Matthew, and got pregnant the 2nd cycle using it. ?

2-Step

I used them for two months and never got a positive. I went by my body's signals and got pregnant the second month. Next time I won't bother with them because they are too hard to get an accurate reading, at least for me.

Is this your first month charting/using OPKs? Most women do not ovulate on the 15th day.

I used OPKs for over a year and would buy internet cheapies so I could test every morning with FMU. Once I got to CD 12 I would test twice a day, in the morning and at around 2pm so I wouldn't miss the surge.
