Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If your lo can climb out of their crib

What did you do?

It only happened once last week, but she fell pretty hard. Luckily she didn't get hurt, but I don't want it to happen again.

I'm not ready to put her in a toddler bed. Our rooms are upstairs and the stairs are not properly blocked off yet. We are having trouble finding a baby gate that will work for our steps.

I bought a crib tent, but it hasn't come in yet. If you use one, what do you think of it?

Re: If your lo can climb out of their crib

  • someone suggested that if you have a crib that is higher in the back than in the front, to turn it around and face the front(the lower part) against the wall.. We will be trying this when my lo starts to climb bc he is nowhere near ready for a toddler bed.

  • maybe in the meantime you can put the gate on her bedroom door?

  • We use a sleep sack.  He can't get his foot up! Smile
  • I've heard crib tents can be dangerous (strangulation, I think). I'd probably pile pillows all over the floor, turn the lower side of the crib to the wall, put the crib in a corner so two sides are against walls, and hope that stopped it. If not, I'd move her to a toddler bed -- but I'd babygate her in her room and super baby proof it, so there was absolutely nothing that could hurt her.
