LO has been diagnosed with "most likely" a yeast infection. I'm frustrated that the doc couldn't be 100%, because I just want it gone. It looks awful, and it hurts DD every single time I wipe her.
The YI is just on the surface in her vaginal area, but it's covering the whole area. They prescribed Nystatin cream, and we've been using it since Wed night, two times a day. My question is, if this was a YI, when would we start seeing an improvement? So far, there's ZERO improvement.
Re: Toddler yeast infection question
DS had one on his bum. It took quite a while with the Nystatin to clear it up. I finally had to ask daycare to change him once an hour. Make sure she is always dry, i.e change her diapers very often or let her go naked if you dare.
DS has had tons of yeast diaper rashes so I'll let you know what worked for us - alternate hydrocortisone cream with the nystatin (up to 4 times a day for each). Stop using wiapes because they could have chemicals which cause the yeast to grow - instead use a mixture of 1c water with 2 tbl white vinager with wash clothes or paper towels. Let your LO have at least 30 mins a day diaper free. Change her often, even when she is only a little wet (we change every 2 hours minimum). We also put LO on probiotics (you can get a kids version over the counter), because the yeast could be in their digestive track). With all of this it typically takes about 3 days before he starts looking better and 2 weeks before it is completely gone.
Good Luck!
