Parenting after a Loss

Those with the Nuva ring come in!

So I'm getting my IUD out and doing the Nuva ring (the strings from the IUD hurt my DH during sex - poor guy lol) Do you like the Nuva ring? Is it suppose to make your period heaver/lighter/normal?? Shorter/longer? Anything you DONT like about it?? Is it one of those birth controls that make you spot forever? I'm really getting sick of spotting from this IUD lol.

TIA

Re: Those with the Nuva ring come in!

  • Love love love love love Nuvaring!

It's about the size of a hair elastic, maybe a little bigger.  Fairly flexible, like those gummy bracelets we had as kids?

It keeps me regular as can be.  I get my period on the 4th Wednesday at 2:15pm.  Like, I can plan to be in the bathroom then.  My periods are a bit lighter - no cramping or clotting - and last about 4 days.  I love that I don't have to think about it, and I can't forget pills.  I can also stop using it very easily, without a doctor's visit.

The only thing I don't like is having it in during sex - so I take it out.  One of my friends got pregnant because she forgot to put it back in after, so remember to put it back in!  I left it in once and DH said it didn't really make a difference, but I am more comfortable with it out.

    I highly recommend it.

  • Pre-DD I used it.  It made my periods shorter and lighter.  DH said that it didn't bother him at all.  It was kind of weird to have it in the fridge though.

Wow that's crazy!  But honestly that would be sooo nice - especially when you are planning trips.

  • I actually started the nuvaring because I'm not reliable to take the pill everyday and I have horrific cramping with my periods. It helps a ton with cramping, sometimes I could still feel a little but rarely.

Yes it definitely makes planning easier! Now I don't have it down to a time because once again not reliable with things but I know that within 12 hours of removing it at the end of my 3rd week I will start my period.

  • I like it, there is a slight period of adjustment getting used to the feeling but it's much better than trying to remember a pill everyday

  • I used the Nuvaring for a long time before I we decided to have a baby. I loved it and plan to go back to using it soon. I have no complaints. I took it out when we had sex so it never bothered DH or I. My periods were never heavy and I never experienced breakthrough bleeding/spotting. I hope this helps.
