Cold Weather Mamas - DS won't wear a hat!

Anyone struggle with getting their LO to wear a hat? It's been a little chilly in the mornings now, so I put a hat on DS (or pull up the hood of his jacket) but he always throws a massive fit. Even though he only has to wear it from the house to the car and from the car into daycare.

Any advice?

Last year he was easily distracted from his hat. Now he gets frustrated if he can't get it off.

We;re in the same boat. I've had some luck with the hats that tie around his chin. He'll tug at them for a second, but then I can usually distract him. I think we'll be wearing a lot of hoods this year!

DS won't wear a hat at all. It's a HUGE PITA because all summer he refused to wear a sunhat, and I'm sure this winter he won't wear a winter hat

He will, however, keep a hood on, so at least there's that. I'm hoping by this winter he outgrows his hatred for hats because its freezing here.

Ugh, same here. At least in the summer I could slather his head in sunblock.

DS use to be this way...then we praised him so much when he wears now we almost can't get it off!   He loves hats!  Worth a try

Thanks! I will try making a big fuss over him when he wears his hat.

DD hates hats and hoods.  But I have notice that if I do something, like try on the hat, then she wants to also.  So I have started practicing already, hopefully it works by the time it gets too cold.

Last spring when DD started playing outside a lot, I made it a rule that she had to wear a hat when we went out.  Now she asks for one before we go anywhere.
