Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Where are you getting DS's Fall clothes?

I hate this age!  He's too big of a boy right now (19 mo.) to get any cutesy stuff but It's hard to find something besides graphic long sleeves and pants (boring).  I LOVE gymboree but can't afford to buy his whole fall wardrobe from there.  I tried Old Navy but there stuff is pretty boring and plain.  Where are you getting fall stuff and what kind of style of clothing are you getting?

Also what kind of shoes and how many pairs?  I'm thinking of some sneakers and nice brown loafer type shoes?  TIA!

Re: Where are you getting DS's Fall clothes?

  • I started at our local consignment store to get whatever I could cheap, and I like not having what every other kid is wearing from this season's clothes.   Then I added some stuff from Old Navy and Gap.  Coat was a gift.  Boots are from Children's Place.  I may get some nice pieces from Tea for something a little special.

  • I bought his clothes from Gap and Carters.  We mostly do stretchy pants and long sleeve shirts because we are home most of the time.  I got him so cute jeans, khakis, and layered looking polos for going out.

I bought him a pair of shoes similar to these from the Stride Rite outlet.  He also has some Robeez for inside and some Carters soft soled shoes.  I'll probably get him another pair from Stride Rite when it gets cooler outside.

  • 90% of DS's wardrobe is from GAP. I can't say no to their clothes & I haven't paid full price for any of it - it's either been on sale or used coupons. I haven't gotten him anything with cutesy stuff more, rocker-ish.

As far as shoes he has a pair of black converse, white puma tennis shoes, a pair of brown suede pumas (bought from a co-workers daughter), & I'll get him some boots if I can find some.

Edited to Add: I go to GAP a lot to find good deals. I've gotten him 4 pairs of jeans there and paid anywhere from $8 to $14 when they are normally at least $25. I went last weekend and they were having 40% off their sale stuff.

  • We picked up some things from Carter's and BabyGap and Kohl's is having a sale on their Jumping Beans brand so we picked up quite a few hoodies, long-sleeved shirts and pants there. We have 1 pair of sneakers right now. Oh and his jacket is from TCP.

  • I have a girl, but I found a lot of cute stuff at Target.  It can be hit or miss there.  I've also done Gap, Old Navy, Carters, and Mini Boden (expensive).

  • 75% gap, at the store and the outlet. The rest is carters, gymboree, ON, and crazy 8.
  • A friend of ours has a son who's a year older than ds and gives us all of his clothes. This kid has more clothes than he can wear. I seriously don't know how they buy all of it. But I still like to buy ds his own clothes to add in. I buy from Crazy 8, Pumpkin Patch, of course the usuals like Gap, Gymboree, Childrens Place, Osh Kosh, Carters, Target and I've seen some cute stuff at Kohls this week. H&M carries some different clothes if you can find them. Not all of their stores carry the baby section. My newest obsession is the 77kids (I think that's the name).

  • I got the bulk of their wardrobe at the big local Mothers of Twins Club consignment sale, and also had gotten a lot of stuff last year at TCP's big sale. Also have some stuff from ON and Target.

  • I just ordered DS a BUNCH of stuff from Children's Place yesterday. They are having a sale-there is a code on their site for 30% off off $60 or more. Momma just spent $200! Eek!

  • When DS was yonger I used to buy his clothes at GAP and Pumpkin Patch only on sale.  However, I too really wanted to save money and found that even $15 on a pair of jeans was a little pricey.    I have found some great clothes at Kohl's, the Jumping Bean brand.  If you can get it at a sale the pants and shirts are 2 for $10, such a deal for playwear (comfy pants and shirts that are pretty cute).  Then we usually do Old Navy for jeans, sweaters, button downs.  We also browse the kids stuff at Costco, sometime there are some really cute things for very cheap.  I think I use to spend $300/season and now I spend under $100.  Shoes we do 1 pair of outside (Stride Rite) and 1 pair inside (like Robeez).  I am probably more of a minimalist though:)
  • consignment, consignment, consigment.

I do not mind hunting for the bargain.  I do occasionally buyy Gap/ON/Gymbo when there is a super good sale.

Shoes: either Payless or I wait for a super sale online at Stride Rite or other places.

  • I bought several things this past May when Gymboree was having one of their 30% off circle of friends sales. I bought about 25 pieces (mostly for this fall/winter but some for next summer as well) for around $70. My mom picked up some stuff at the end of the season last year (mostly Carter's) and I have picked up some two piece sets from Carter's as well. We have some nice jeans from Children's Place and from Gap as well as some nicer polo type shirts (Children's Place and Kohl's) for when we go places but most of his stuff is t-shirts and knit pants to wear to daycare so I don't care if it gets ruined.

For shoes we will get a pair of sneakers for most days (probably navy blue) and a pair of brown casual-ish shoes that can be worn with jeans but also with his knit outfits that are brown.

  • For shoes - I usually try to find him some Stride Rites on consignment...if I can't find any in brown, then I'll buy him a brown pair for each season from there (outlet if possible).  He HAS to have decent brown shoes.  This season he also has some blue Stride Rites, New Balance Sneakers (consignment) and the latest consignment finds - two pairs of Merrills.  He has a few hand me downs from his cousin.

For clothes - I love gymboree.  The stuff fits DS well and I always find sales and buy off season.  Gymbucks are a great thing.  I would say 60% of his wardrobe is from there.  I also like GAP stuff but I can't seem to time their sales as well so he has limited stuff from there - I LOVE their boys sweatpants.  Great quality and fit perfect.  The Childrens Place - I don't know when I will learn with this store.  Their stuff is ALWAYS a size too big on DS and he can't really wear their pants.  I bought him a bunch of pants from there last winter on clearance and I honestly think I might try those NEXT winter they are so big.  Shirts are ok from there and jackets are awesome.  His heavy coat is TCP.

I am on my area's email serve for kids consignment sales and I cannot say enough about this - go find them in your area and shop on the first day.  You can find some good stuff for really cheap!

  • I bought most of his clothes from Kohls and Old Navy. Kohls has a some pretty cute things for not too bad of a price. Children's Place is another place I shop at.

  • Do you have an outlet mall near you? We got a bunch of fall/winter clothes for DS from the Baby Gap Outlet.

  • 99% is from Kohl's.  They have some really cute stuff.  With 4 kids, I can't afford to be a SAHM and shop at the Gap for the kids, unfortunatley!
