There are the really bad ones and also the ones that do the bare minimum. Of course facebook brought this on. Just a stupid comment someone made about how she doesn't really care if her kids play with recalled toys, etc. I mean I know the recall wasn't anything too serious but it was the tone. Other things she has posted just give me the heebie jeebies (ie CIO at 1 month etc). You can take kids away from abusive homes. What about the person who lucks out and their kid never gets hurt etc from their neglect. I am talking about the CIO's from day one, the ones who never get caught but leave the baby in the crib while they run to the liquor store, never actually play with their kids, don't babyproof their home, won't pay for a dance class but will blow $200 a week on cigs and booze. Yes this is all the same person who does these things. The only solution is for me to defriend her on facebook. She is my cousin's wife and I barely know her so I don't know why she sent me a friend request in the 1st place. Thanks for letting me vent!
Re: There are so many crappy parents out there vent!
It's likely someone out there thinks you're a bad parent too.
It takes all kinds, and I'm personally thrilled to live in a country where my children can't be removed from my care simply because I do/don't do something with them that most people wouldn't approve of.
Parental ethics are relative. I REALLY don't think you'd want to live in a society where they aren't.
I know other posters said not to make a big deal about it, but if this woman is leaving her child alone in the house while she goes to the store (guess I missed that part when I read the OP), liquor or otherwise, I'd have a HUGE problem with that. Anything could happen while she's gone! I honestly can't say what I would do given your situation since I haven't been there, KWIM?
My mom is going to mention it to her brother (my cousin'd dad). Hopefully something gets done. If not I may have to make a call to CPS.
Did you miss the part about leaving a child in the crib while going out to the party store? Or letting a one day old cry it out? That's really not relative.
