Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Tips to get DS moving... help please :)

Little Isaiah tries so hard to reach for things, he face dives towards a toy, remote, ipad, anything he wants but he will not budge once he gets on his tummy. I try practicing tummy time with him everyday. I face him or go next to him to demonstrate (Its pretty funny looking actually) but he Instantly flips to his back! He loves to stand but refuses to stand on his own. He barely started to sit unassisted but again, he dive bombs towards a toy and gets all mad and angy when he is on his belly. I know babies develop at different rates but I am getting a little worried about his development... Any cool tips you ladies can share to help my baby get going? Thanks in Advance :)

  • When he is on his belly does he move his legs?  Try putting your hands on the bottoms of his feet to help him propel forward.  Also, when you put him down, put him on his arms so he can strengthen his upper body.  I hate watching DS get pissed off and frustrated when he can't get a toy, but it IS part of development/learning...  He also might just do things at his own pace - I wouldn't worry. :)

Thanks, When he is on his belly he is pretty good at holding his upper body but when I try with his lower end, he face plants. Its liek either/or... He is good at raising his butt but wont do both top half and bottom at the same time and he doesnt move his legs either. I know he can get moving because when I put him down for sleepy time, everytime I check on him he is all over the crib. He LOVES to stand but again just in place, no intentions on moving.

I know, I gotta stay positive and be patient.. and I am sure when he gets going I am going to wish he can just stay still but looking back, my niece and nephew were all over the place at 7 months and so were all my cousins... I am just getting sick of my family asking why he isnt crawling yet,,,

  • There is nothing at all to be worried about. He just turned 7 months old. When it comes to milestones, there is a range and I can tell you from having children of the opposite sex that boys tend to hit their milestones a little later than girls within that range.

My son couldn't sit completely unassisted without falling over until he was 7 months old, didn't crawl until he was 8.5 months old, didn't pull to a stand until about 9 months old (all of which were in the normal ranges) and then walked at 10 months old (really early)!!

Relax, your LO is doing fine!
