How do you want your steak cooked?

Hi! I am receiving conflicting answers from two drs. One told me to have my steak cooked well done. Another said, "That's not even food! No! You don't need to do that!" Haha..a little different! If it's a concern of salmonella or e coli, I'm under the impression that those things only affect the mama? But I'm not 100% sure if this could be a listeria concern..and don't want to take the chance if it is! What have your drs told you? TIA pretty mamas :)

  • Don't eat it raw and you're good to go! Personally, I like mine Medium Well or Well Done depending on the cut.
  • My doc told me no raw meat- so sushi/sashimi and rare cooked steaks are out.  I'm not sure if medium or medium-well are safe either.  I didn't think about that until right now!  I don't eat much red meat so it won't be a big concern, but I LOVE my sushi!

  • I've kept everything well done during pregnancy just in case.  Some OB's are more conservative and others more lax (as you've found out).  Mine said I could have deli meat, but I've steared clear of that as well.

I have requested sushi be brought in the hospital (kind of kidding....) and we are going to have a wonderful steak dinner when time allows because I miss medium-rare fillet.
