yeast infections (for LO)

How do you know if it's a diaper rash or a yeast infection?? DS has NEVER had a diaper rash hardly that didn't go away after 1-2 diapers changes with cream.  This is all over his balls and his butt a little.  It is RED as it can be and I know it has to be killing him.

He's been on amoxicillan for a sinus infection and had lots of diarhea.  We've tried to clean up the dirties as soon as we know about them so that it doesn't sit there on him.  We're almost done with the medicine but I'm not giving him anymore.

Re: yeast infections (for LO)

  • goggle yeast diaper rash and you'll find pictures.  But one key things is that at the edge of a yeast diaper rash you'll see little bumps that sort-of look like zits.

ETA: In the future you should give your LO probiotics whenever you use antibiotics.  They make a world of difference, and they make kids ones.

  • DS actually had never had a diaper rash & then boom, yeast infection for a super duper antibiotic shot. It was horrible and spread like wildfire and had the little bumps as PP said. The Dr's office gave us a cream and it was literally 75% better the same day. We changed diapers like crazy but with some antibiotics you just can't help it. Call your pedi and maybe they can just call it in.
