Waking EARLY all of a sudden?

Anyone else go through this? All of a sudden DS has been waking at 4:45 the last couple mornings and NOT going back down. I am exhausted...It makes for a very long day! Naps are also shorter now too There is NO WAY he is getting enough sleep (1 1.5 hour nap)HELP!

Re: Waking EARLY all of a sudden?

  • DS started doing this about a month and a half ago. I tried everything and finally I made a rule for a week not to get him out of his crib until 6:30. It took a few mornings, but he mostly just cried for a bit and went back to sleep then repeated that for an hour or so. It sucked, but it kind of reset his clock. Sometimes he still surprises us with a 5am wake up, but this morning he slept till 7am and he averages 6:30 most mornings now.

Before when I was letting him get up or come into bed with us he wanted to run around and it was making things worse because I think it was reinforcing that it was time to get up and play. GL!

  • with us it's related to teething and lasts a week or so...
  • I wish I knew.  DD started this last Saturday.  She wakes up sometime between 3am and 4am screaming.  When I go in to check on her she stands up and giggles in her crib.  If I leave she starts screaming again.  This goes on for hours.  She has always been such a good night sleeper (since 7 weeks old) I have no idea what is going on.  She eventually goes back to sleep around 5am or 6 am, but then wants to sleep well past 8am and is super cranky when you have to wake her.

I thought it was teeth, but the Orajel, Motrin and teething tablets did nothing.  I brought her to the pedi thinking maybe it was an ear infection, but nothing there either.  This has been a really tough week in our house.  I hope it gets better for both of us.  Good luck.
