Is it normal to have a little spotting after a pap at 10wks pregnant? I was worried when I saw this the day after my 1st ob exam... I did call the dr and she said it is, but I wanted to to see if this has happened to anyone else?
Yep - after paps, internal u/s, anything that might irritate your cervix might cause a little spotting. I spotted after my pap and my last internal u/s as well.
Totally normal. I didn't have it with DD but I must have had it actually during the pap this time because my OB said "you might have some spotting..oh actually, you will have some spotting" I never saw anything after that but it has happened after sex before. Its normal to be a little bit crampy afterwards too, I had that for the next few days actually.
I'm only 5 wks, but I just called in to the nurse's station about my yesterday's pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound. I had some slight brown spotting yesterday evening and today. The nurse said this is normal following a pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound. The poking around may cause some old blood to come out.
Can I throw another question into the loop that regaurds paps?
If we have had a recent pap- pre pregnancy- with normal results.. will they still have to do another one? (If we bring in the results?)
Thanks
I think this depends on the doctor. My OB wanted me come in before I got pregnant for a pap. He told me that if I got pregnant within 6 months I wouldn't have to have a another.
I had one today, but that is because I scheduled my appointment about 2 weeks prior to getting my BFP.
Yes, normal. My doctor told me it's normal b/c the pap irritates your cervix which can cause some spotting. Although I didn't have any spotting after mine.
Yep, I'm surprised the doc didn't mention it. Mine made a point of saying that it was a possibility and nothing to worry about.
For the poster who asked about having a pap, I know that my doc only went ahead with a pap at my first visit because I was only about three months out from being due for one. I would bring along the results and date of your last one; your doc may or may not decide to do another one now -- I'd say it depends on the doc and when you'll be due for another.
When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

totally normal. i had one last night, and the doctor told me bright red spotting would be normal for the rest of the night, brown the next day. honestly, it wasn't bad at all. there was red blood when i wiped before changing back into clothing after the pap (sorry if tmi) and some brown today, but really nothing bad.

Thanks! I am just trying to weasel out of one (if I can). We'll see how it goes!

This exactly. My OB was very clear when she did my pap 2 weeks ago that I might have some spotting, but that my baby was perfectly fine.
