Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Do you ever feel like they love the sitter more?

When I drop him off at Diane's in the mornings, he never clings to me.  He's tickled pink to be there, and has the biggest grin on his face.

When I pick him up, he smiles at me, but then runs away and I have to chase him to grab him up.

*Obviously* I know that he doesn't "love the sitter more" but I'd be lying if I said it didn't sting a little.  And I'm also happy that he's so happy there, but you know...

  • Yes, I do. I know she doesn't, no one will be her mom, but every once in awhile she'll hold the sitter's neck instead of coming right to me, and it sucks.

  • Yes. What makes it worse for me is that it is my MIL. I love that he loves her, and I have family that will watch him. However last week at his party when he was getting cranky and I could not get him to stop crying, he yelled "Nana' and stopped once he got in her arms. That hurt some.

  • Yowza, that would make me cringe. Hell, I cringe when she does that and wants DH.

Being a working mom is hard!

DD does the same thing. She runs to the door and screams her name in the morning if im taking too long. When I pull up she actually squeals and kicks her little feet. When I pick her up she grabs on to her and I have to pry her away.  I'm happy that she's happy, but I get what you're saying.

  • I know DD likes being with her DCP a lot. I worry, too, that she enjoys her days more with the DCP than my days off with her.  But I try not to worry about it too much b/c I don't know what good it will do. Even if it was true.

  • I feel like I wrote this!  The other day Remi was being a total toot to me.  He wouldn't give me a kiss before I left.  He screamed when I went and gave him a hug and kiss, crawled right to DCP and kissed her!

I cried all the way to work.  He is always so happy when I pick him up though, that made me feel better.  I know exactly how you feel!!  Crying
