NTR: If you've had a breast reduction, come in...

Hi Ladies - I've finally made the decision to get a much needed breast reduction.  I'm 5'1, 110lbs and have 38DD bbs.  I'm constantly unconfortable, have constant neck and back pains and have basically put this surgery off because of my fear of surgery.

I'm also planning on another LO, but right now...the pain i'm enduring is getting to be too much and knowing that they will grow again during my next pregnant is just scaring me as they got bigger last time and never shrunk back to my normal size which was still a 36D.

I have a few questions hopefully someone can answer for me.

1. How bad was the surgery?

2. Did you have it before your LO(s), if so, did they shrink back to size after?

3. Did your insurance cover it, if so...what were the steps to getting it covered?

4. Would you recommend it?

Thank you :)

Re: NTR: If you've had a breast reduction, come in...

  • K I cannot answer from personal experience but have asked these exact questions to 2 of my closest friends that had reductions because I'm planning on having one done. I'm 5'3" and my 38F's are freaking KILLING me. My son is 15 months and they aren't going anywhere (and I had DD's before I had him)

These are the answers I got:

    1. No lie, the surgery wasn't fun. My one friend hurt for about 2 1/2 weeks then it tapered off, the other's pain lasted about 3 weeks. Said they couldn't pick up anything over like 5 lbs and that moving wasn't fun for the first week.

    2. One had it between kids, the other after. The one that did it between her first and second said that they got a little bigger during pregnancy but it wasn't bad. Said they went back down after unlike after her first child.

    3. One had her insurance cover. She said it was a battle. First she said she went to her OBGYN and had a physical done and they had to write a letter deeming it a medical necessity not just for esthetics.  She submitted that to the insurance company that made her get two other letters from different doctors. Then she had to wait for like 4 months for them to process her claim and find a doctor they would accept. She said all in all it was worth it because she didn't have to shell out the $8000 it ended up costing. My other friend paid for her herself and it was about $6500.

    4. Both would do it again in a heartbeat! And I will be getting mine done in a year.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

  • 1. How bad was the surgery? For me it wasn't that bad. I was in pain for about 2 days. I didn't need many pain meds. I

    2. Did you have it before your LO(s), if so, did they shrink back to size after? I had my surgery 15 years ago in high school. I went from a 38DDD/G to a 36C. When pregnant, I was a 40D. Now I am getting back to prior size but I'm also still losing my weight so I'm happy with it.

    3. Did your insurance cover it, if so...what were the steps to getting it covered? My insurance paid for it. It required some second opinions and pictures to verify medically necessary & not cosmetic.

    4. Would you recommend it? In a heartbeat!! One of the best things I ever did.
