UO: The ladies can serve the men

I hate when people make this statement. I don't mind serving my husband and he doesn't mind serving me, but we do it on our own. It typically goes by who is doing what, who is up or we just do it for ourselves. I don't even know why I let a statment like this get to me, I just feel like it's sexist.

My friend posted this in our discussion about our winter GTG yesterday. My snark could not hold back. I posted "And so people don't think we are sexist, Randy will be serving me. LMAO". Only one of them laughed.  We are typically the laid back and go with the flow type. I think that is why she is the only one who really got it. The others are more high strung and I like to stir their pot.

  • I was raised this way as well. But DH and I reciprocate. I will take care of the kids, get them fed, get DH fed and get my dinner. But if I sit down and one of the kids or DH asks "Where's my drink?" I point "It's in the kitchen." and keep eating.

  • DHs grandmother (basically his mom) is so bad about this. I get it's a generational thing...but she get's disgusted if DH pushes the stroller Confused

  • Is this really a UO?  Nobody in my family or circle of friends would ever say something like that unless it was a joke.
