There was this whole thing on the news this morning here, how they have caused 12 deaths so far in the US, due to the child being able to squirm around and moving their head sideways and suffocating themselves..Although at this time there is not a recall out, they are advicing everyone to stop using them and throw them away....

Just wanted to let you girls know in case you are using them.....

I saw this on the news yesterday.  I was going to throw mine out anyway, because it was a huge waste.  The first time that I slept C in the crib I put her in it and in the morning she was laying next to it.  I adjusted it to fit her and somehow my little monkey got out of it at 6 weeks old.  I never used it after that.

this is great information. We have a couple that were passed down to us - I guess we'll leave them in the box.

We used a breathable mesh one... but I won't use it again with another kid... yet another thing to wean them off of.

Gavin always did that, but his was the mesh kind.  It was useless after a few weeks because he would just squirm all the way off of it anyway.  I still liked it in the early days though.

we use it with nia and keep it snug on her. since she hates being swaddled and won't sleep on her back without flailing her arms and waking herself up this is the best way for us to keep her in place. we check on her often and she's never moved into the position i saw posted on the warning. compared to the sleep positioner i'm sure more than 12 children have died over the past 13 years sleeping in bed with their parents.
