My husband and I were going to wait until after our first appointment to tell our family and friends, but our first appointment isn't until October 28th and between us calculating and what the nurse guessed we are between 5 and 6 weeks pregnant.
Did you wait to tell your family and friends? Did you just start telling everyone when you found out using a pregnancy test?
I had to take two pregnancy tests because when the first one turned positive in less than 15 seconds.....I had to do a double take. We just started trying to conceive and I believe as soon as we thought about it, it happened. ![]()
Re: When to tell Family and Friends?
We found out on a Wednesday (pregnancy test at home followed by confirmation at the doctor). We took a few days to enjoy the news together. Then we told my family on Saturday, his on Sunday. We haven't told anyone else yet (except my boss, see below). My first appt with the ob is when I'll be 11 weeks along. After that, we'll tell anyone who will listen. :-)
I also told my boss because I'm so sick. I wanted her to know that if I'm late to a meeting or look like I'm about to vomit, it's just my precious little baby. She was delighted to hear the news and is doing a great job keeping my secret.
I love having these boards on thebump now so there are people I can talk to and relate to about this!!!
I agree! This board on the bump is so nice to have to be able to relate with others who are going through the same miracle.
This will be the third evening that we've both known. When I found out Monday afternoon I could barely contain myself until my husband came home to tell him the news. I wanted to tell him in person though and actually made him a card to announce the pregnancy. The front said "you are an amazing husband" and then when he opened it said, "but you will be an even more amazing daddy". He looked at me and said "Are you serious?!" He was so excited.
We are both so close with our families that it is hard to keep the secret. So I just am not sure if we should tell them at 6-7 weeks or wait awhile.
Knowing that you're first appointment with an OB isn't until the 11th week makes me feel much better. The nurse scheduled us for what she thought would be our 10th week.
We are waiting until 12 weeks at least.
We waited until 5 weeks to tell my mom.
I had a u/s at 7weeks which is when we told all my family
8.5 weeks we started telling friends (still working on that)
12 weeks I have my NT scan and I'll tell my boss and FB.
We are telling close friends and family this week - at 8 weeks. We won't announce anything on FB or to the public at large until 12 weeks.
I told a few of my close women friends and my boss (as I was so sick with m/s that I was late for work and had to take 2 days off. So I wanted to know what was going on so she understood) when I was 8w. Just because I wanted to make sure that everything that I was feeling was okay. We didn't tell our parents until last Sunday (10w) just because they all would have blabbed it to the rest of the family. My family doesn't have any kids I mean the youngest is 21. We are having the 1st grandbaby....and great grandbaby. So, they are super excited. As for my DH's family we told them on Sunday also, they were all excited as well. But my sister in law is PG also; she's due 12/13. So, they understood it a little better.
I guess it's all about what you?re comfortable with. My DH hasn't told anyone but his family.
