With 10 seconds remaining and down 35-0, a high school football team in Washington state hands the ball off to Ike Ditzenbeger, a player with Down syndrome who runs 51 yards for the team's only score.

Just the way everyone's cheering for him. Ugh. Made me tear up.

Sometimes people can be really amazing.

  • I am having a truly awful day today and having serious doubts that there are good people in this world. It feels good to be proven wrong. Thank you for sharing.

  • I saw that on the news last night - I got misty eyed also.  It was so nice to see how excited all his teammates were for him.
  • Its nice to see kids doing the right thing, isn't it? I can only hope that I'm raising Muffin to be someone who'll help others' dreams come true. KWIM?
  • Aw.  I like that.  Can you imagine how he felt?  Can you imagine conveying how much that would mean to the other team to "allow" him to score against them?

  • That is beautiful what a great selfless act of the teens involved.

I cannot believe some of the comments that people left on that video there are some really f-up people in the world that would not see that video as a wonderful act by everyone involved.

  •  Yes

whoever guides this team (actually teams) deserves props, they're teaching the players (hell they're teaching all of us) immeasurable things about being a member of a team.

  • Awesome.  Like other have said, it's means something these days to see kids do the right thing and to truly be cheering and supporting another kid.
