Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did you cut LOs hair?

Did you save it?  How?  (i.e. did you just throw it in a plastic baggy or do something with it?)

DH keeps telling me that E needs a haircut.  (He is starting to look a little scruffy.)  I just don't want him to look even more grown-up!  Plus, I want to save a lock of his hair, but it doesn't seem quite long enough for that yet. . .

Re: When did you cut LOs hair?

  • He was 15 months old and yes we put a little lock into a tiny ziplock bag..

  • Monkey was 13 months old.  She was born with a headful of hair that never fell out.

We brought her to a salon, where she got bangs.  Since then she has had a full hair cut every 2 months (to keep the bangs cute)

  • lol, we still haven't done it and DD is 19 months now.  She's never grown enough to cut yet :)

  • Jack was around 10 months I think.  I forgot to bring a ziploc baggy and the hair wasn't really long enough to pick up and keep so I don't have his "first haircut" hair.  Mommy fail.

  • DS - who was clearly wearing boys clothes - was called a little girl a few times in the last couple weeks so we decided we're going to take him for the first time this weekend.  He is 15 months.  And yes, I will be saving a lock of his hair in a ziploc.
  • DS just had his first cut a couple of weeks ago (see siggy for pic). The salon put his hair in an envelope for me. He also got a little "first haircut" certificate.
  • We cut Luke's at 13 months...but I wasn't able to save any because he was having a complete fit, and we just wanted out of there.  Including me!
  • We got DS's hair cut on his 1st b-day.  We should have done it sooner but for some reason we just didn't want to do it until he was 1.  I guess we didn't want him to grow up yet lol!  We did save some in a little baggie.  His baby book has an envelop to put the hair in so I put the baggie inside it.

  • We took him to one of those Panda Rooms for his first haircut at 14-15 months. THey cut it and put it in a little bag (all of his beautiful ringlets!) and gave us a photo and a "certificate." He looked so much older once we cut his hair it was amazing. So small yet so big all at the same time! I told them to leave it a little long and to not go all out on it I wanted him to still look baby-ish. They styled it into a mohawk it was awesome for that one day!

  • Like some of the prior posters, DS was called a girl at least 4 times in one week so I decided it was time to chop the mullet he'd grown. It was cut it for the first time on the 18th (he was 13 and 1/2 mo. old). It was so sad to watch-he cried the whole time and his face turned almost purple at one point. never imagined it would be so traumatic for him! We did save his hair in an envelope but will probably put into a baggie at some point. He also got a certificate for "graduating from babyhood". I can't believe how much old he looks now.

  • We did first one right before his 1st birthday. The salon gave us a little bag and put the hair in it for us. It is now sitting in his baby book.
