Yay! I love syllable talk. A lot of people say, "who cares?". But I think it's a great method to make the name flow well. It shows that you really care about your child to make sure they have a pleasant name for the rest of his or her life (or at least until she gets married and takes her husband's last name).
I think names flow best when they have an odd number of syllables. In your case, here are the options to make that happen:
All 3 names: First and middle names only:
2 + 2 + 1 = 5 --> 2 + 1 = 3
4 + 2 + 1 = 7 --> 4 + 1 = 5
2 + 4 + 1 = 7 --> 2 + 1 = 3
But if you find a name that doesn't fit these options, but is meaningful to you, and sounds okay, go for it anyway.
Let us know when you have actual name options, and we can work through it together.
We've been having a lot of name problems as well, because our last name is only one syllable. I do think it sounds a lot better if the first name is longer.

Thanks Eaglefoot! This is helpful! I'm not pregnant or TTC, but sometimes I get in the baby name mood (as we will probably TTC in a year or two). I will come back when I have questions on particular names. Thanks!

Yes, isn't it a bummer!! My first name is 1 syllable, and my maiden name was 3 syllables - but now that I am married my fn is 1 syllable and ln is also only 1 syllable and I think my name sounds kind of funny like that ;( Oh well, the things we will do for love. I just don't want my future kids to have funny sounding names too!
