Hello,
I've never used CD before but I'm trying to stock up for my first in January. My question is: I've been buying OS pockets on sale in from several differnt brands and they all come with inserts- microfiber I think. Many of them came with a large and small insert. So do I need to buy any other inserts? I know they come in all different materials, which do I need? and there are "sleepers" & "doublers" do I need these right away?
Thought?
Re: insert question
The small ones are usually used in the newborn stage and you move up to the larger ones are they get bigger. I still use some newborn ones on top of regular ones for extra protection.
I dont think you will need anything extra for the first while, you will be changing diapers so frequently that doublers arent nessicary. When baby starts sleeping in longer stretches and you need a diaper to last 8+ hours (or less depending on how much they pee) then I would suggest looking into some hemp doublers. They are awesome.
At the moment Marley is 12 months old and sleeps in a BumGenius 4.0 with a microfiber insert and a AppleCheeks hemp doubler. GL!
As the PP stated the short ones are supposed to be for newborns, however i've discovered that my newborn peed out of them. They won't be able to wear OS pockets until they are about 8-10 lbs depending on your baby. For right now we are a BG 3.0 family (only becuase they were given to us and we haven't expanded our stash yet...we are new to CDing) and on my 11 week old I use the long MF insert folded over with the extra fold in the front (it's a boy) day and night...and for my 2 YO we use the MF insert (she's on the biggest fitting of the OS so no folding over) and i add the newborn insert towards the back for extra protection. We currently put her in disposibles for sleeping.
