RhoGAM shot?

My blood type is O- so my Dr. scheduled me to have a RhoGam shot tomorrow, but I am only 6wks 5days.  Has anybody else had their first RhoGAM shot this early??  All the research I have been doing online recommends your first RhoGam shot at 28wks.

If you are actively bleeding (such as with a subchorionic hemorrhage) rhogam may be given earlier. I had my first shot at 5 weeks 5 days.

I had my first shot yesterday at 9w3d following a spotting episode.  We couldn't pinpoint a source of the spotting, and the docs were on the fence as to whether it was very necessary. But it doesn't hurt to have the extra protection and I'm traveling for most of October, so I got it.  You don't typically need it until 28w, and then a second shot after delivery. 

As an FYI - the process was bloodwork, followed by a 2 hour wait (for bloodwork processing), and then the shot.

I didn't have any complications with my first pregnancy and I got it around 26-28 weeks, the same day as I did the glucose test. I also had to get it post partum as DD is A+ and I am A- !!
